The Childrens Home of Reading Youth & Family Services is Hiring a Youth Counselor Near Breinigsville, PA

CHOR Youth & Family Services is seeking Youth Counselors in the Lehigh Valley for our Paths Program located in Breinigsville, PA. Paths is a community-based specialized group treatment home for boys between the ages of 10 and 15. Youth in the program attend community schools through the Parkland School District and participate in a high level of recreational activities as well as being immersed in a highly interactive and positive social milieu.

We are looking for both Part and Full-Time staff for 1st shift, 2nd shift, overnight shifts and weekends. The program operates 24/7; these position requires rotational shift work (8:00am-4:00pm; 4:00pm-12:00am; 12:00am-8:00am). Assigned shifts may vary, allowing for a highly flexible schedule.

Starting salary is $17.50 (ALL SHIFTS)

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a variety of counseling, communication, and parenting skills, which support the formation of trusting, supportive relationships with the residents.
  • Maintain safety and security of residents and facility.
  • Actively supervise residents during academic instruction, recreational activity, in the community, and in common areas of the facility.
  • Collaboratively create residential behavioral goals in conjunction with clinical staff and case manager.
  • Create and maintain electronic health records (EHR) and reports to record residents’ progress toward behavioral goals.
  • Will be trained in accordance with our structured program policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of college in a social or human services related field OR: High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years working with youth.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must pass criminal history (including FBI) and child abuse history clearances.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
